Partners

May we introduce you to the Sharles partners. We have George Rice, Robert A Pollock, Keith D Edwards, Peter Lavelle and Chris J Wilson, all of whom are members of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Scotland.

  • George Rice

    George is the longest serving member of staff at Sharles, joining in 1979 and appointed a partner in 1981. He is extensively involved in building client business service relationships, managing a diverse portfolio of owner managed businesses. He's heavily involved in grant applications and bank negotiations to assist growth of client businesses.

    Before Sharles, George joined KPMG Chartered Accountants in Glasgow as a qualified senior and soon progressed to group audit manager. During the period of 1974 to 1979 he handled large company audits with secondment to corporate finance department.

    From 1969 – 1974 he cut his teeth serving as an apprentice with Mackie & Clark Chartered Accountants in Glasgow, gaining a wide variety of audit and accountancy experience.

       

  • Robert Pollock

    With a BA in accountancy from Glasgow College of Technology, Robert joined Sharles in 1987. In 1995 he was appointed a partner in the company.

    Robert’s main specialist area is in the audit of owner managed businesses, but he also gets involved in the preparation and review of annual accounts and management accounts for a number of clients, as well as working closely with directors on profit improvement, cost monitoring and business planning.

       

  • Chris Wilson

    Chris trained and qualified as a CA with Sharles, having joined the firm as an apprentice in 1983.

    He continues to be extensively involved in building client service relationships whilst managing a diverse portfolio of owner managed businesses. Day to Day activity will involve close working relationships with company directors on all aspects of their business.

       

  • Keith Edwards

    Keith joined Sharles in 1999 following completion of his CA training at BDO Stoy Hayward CA in Ayr.

    Keith has a hands on approach to planning and executing assignments within the firm, covering a diverse portfolio of clients. He has a wide variety of audit and accountancy experience and is an excellent member of the team.

       

  • Peter Lavelle

    Peter joined Sharles in 1998 filling the then vacant role of Tax Partner, having spent 10 years with Thomson McLintock & Co CA in Glasgow. He has extensive experience of all aspects of tax, including capital gains and inheritance tax and advises on tax implications of start ups, sales, buy outs, retirement and succession. Peter has an excellent supporting team and focuses on minimising client tax liabilities.
